The Challenge of Multi-Location Shopify Operations
Managing inventory across multiple Shopify locations (e.g. Central Warehouse, Flagship Store, Pop-up Shop, 3PL) is complex. Without dedicated transfer tools, staff manually adjust stock quantities at two separate locations, resulting in lost units, double-counts, and phantom stock.
PODesk makes location transfers seamless, secure, and fully auditable with dedicated transfer manifests and atomic inventory synchronizations.
Origin-to-Destination Transfer Workflow
Moving inventory in PODesk takes only three steps:
- Select Origin & Destination: Choose which warehouse or store is sending stock, and which facility is receiving it.
- Add Variants with Stock Guardrails: Search items by title, SKU, or barcode. PODesk shows live on-hand quantity at the origin location and prevents staff from requesting more units than are physically available.
- Dispatch with Printable Manifest: Generate an official A4 transfer packing slip with barcodes for warehouse pickers and drivers.
Atomic Two-Way Shopify Inventory Sync
When goods arrive at the destination location, staff complete the transfer in one click. PODesk executes an atomic adjustment via Shopify's GraphQL Inventory API:
- Deducts the transferred units from the origin location.
- Increments the transferred units at the destination location.
- Records timestamped audit entries for both locations, ensuring ledger accuracy.
Printable A4 Warehouse Manifests
Every transfer includes a branded, high-contrast A4 packing manifest. It includes transfer ID, shipment date, source/destination address, line items with SKU barcodes, and physical signature verification blocks for dispatch and receiving crews.
